Wrong Signals – However, The Joke Became Serious (Third Kind Records)

Wrong Signals However Cover

Musical Content: The music on However, The Joke Became Serious is an intense psychedelic synth ride, as if Delia Derbyshire dropped a tab and improvised drones for hours. The tones are rich and diverse, from metallic horns to phasey strings, rooted in vintage analog synthesis. The tracks are constantly moving and changing. Side A builds slowly, while Side B offers a variety of intense, and at times, overdriven tracks. Overall, it’s deeply moving electronic music.

Packaging and Sound Quality: The J-Card artwork recalls generic cassettes that were available in department stores in the 70s and 80s. The C40 tape sounds great too. The quality lives up to the precedent set by Third Kind Records on previous releases: imaginative design and high quality sound.
